When it comes to high street makeup (or, Drugstore if you are one of THOSE people haha) the brands out there are killing it at the moment with amazing new releases left, right and centre. It’s strange that some of my most reached for products are high street ones, despite having a decent collection of higher end products. I thought I would share my current most reached for makeup pieces, kind of a capsule makeup wardrobe – I also have the high end version of this post coming up on Sunday.
I forgot to picture some products… OK, I didn’t I was just too ashamed of how battered and beaten they looked so didn’t include them :)
I love the Rimmel Match Perfection Fix & Perfect Primer, although I have to alternate between this and a non-silicone based one. The Loreal True Match Foundation took some getting used to as I found it a little thicker than my normal foundations, but the coverage and shade range is brilliant for a high street line (although it is lacking in truly dark tones). The foundation wears really well, is on the higher scale of coverage and sits with the Rimmel primer brilliantly – although if your skin is on the drier side I would stay away from it as the thickness of the formula can cling to dry spots. A touch of the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer under my eyes brightens my face right up; I wouldn’t use this on blemishes as it certainly has a very slight shimmer too it. After setting all this in place with my Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder it’s time for the fun to start.
To add some colour and definition in to my face I seem to forever be reaching for Makeup Revolution from my high street stash. The Makeup Revolution Contour Palette* is amazing for the price, despite one of two of the shades being more on the orange/bronzer side than the contour one. Mixed with a Makeup Revolution Matte Blusher* and it’s certainly a winner, I am still in awe at how much pigmentation these pack for the price – MUR need to give some other high street brands a lesson in packing in colour I think.
I have only just started using the Autograph Mini Palette from M&S* but already love the quality and shades of it, although I don’t think the mini version is sold, the larger version certainly is and is £15.00 (although you can currently get it free as a GWP). I think I actually need to repurchase the Rimmel Wake Me Up Mascara* pretty soon as I have used mine to death since I picked it up as it offers so much in terms of length and volume without giving spidery lashes. Now it wouldn’t be a makeup look for me without a bold dark lip (no matter what time of year), and after recently discovering my Barry M Lipstick in Black Cherry after a clear out I was questioning why I ever stopped using it. I love the dark plum berry shade and it’s perfect for this time of year
