Have you ever just sat at your computer or on your phone browsing your favourite store, knowing full well you don’t need another item from it… The BAM you click on something so pretty and colourful and you add it to your basket and checkout before your brain can even say ‘stop Hayley, you don’t need ANOTHER palette’??? Well, yeah – that’s how I managed to become the owner of this pretty Laura Mercier Daring by Day & Night Eye and Cheek Palette (£32.00).
I think it was mostly the packaging that caught my eye, which is strange considering I am not the biggest fan of animal prints; I kind of find them a little OTT, yet this I quite like. Maybe I am turning in to Bette Lynch as I get older huh? Packaging aside the palette is just stunning; it’s packed with such wearable day colours, but then a deeper and richer colours to add a little something for a night out. All the shades included, except the slate plum colour, are shimmery glitter packed pans of beautifulness *swoons*.
For your £32.00 you get 6 eye colours; Steal Pink, Guava, Copper Mettle, Vanilla Nuts, Boudoir and Plum Haze. My favourites are Gauva, Copper Mettle and Plum Haze. Guava is from their permanent line and is a satin finish shimmer with warm tones. Copper Mettle is possibly one of my favourites from the whole palette, again a satin finish but in a warm smokey bronze colour that just grabs all the light. Plum Haze is a matte grey plum shade that is perfect for running under the lower lashes and smoking out the eyes slightly.
The eyeshadows glide on so smoothly and can be applied lightly or heavier handed for intense colour – I have yet to try these wet to see if you can get more intense pay off. The formula is buttery and there is hardly any fall out in the pan when picking shades up with a brush, and even better there wasn’t any fall out on my cheeks when applying them. As a Laura Mercier newbie, this has definitely made me want more.
The blush shade is Lotus Pink, and not something I would pick out for myself due to the shimmery flecks and baby pink style colour – I am more of a deep mauve blush kinda gal. The stand out of the palette though has to be the highlighter in Meringue.. I mean HIGHLIGHTER GOALS RIGHT THERE. It’s such a pretty warm toned highlighter that catches the light in the most stunning way, yet not in a LOOK AT ME kind of way – subtle but there, if that even makes sense. I had actually had my eye on the highlighter palette a couple of weeks back and after using Meringue I am convinced that I need that highlighter palette in my life.
For a Laura Mercier first timer I am certainly impressed and can’t wait to try out more from the brand. Do you have any recommendations for me to pick up next?
