It’s now well and truly autumn, which means Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, Berry Lipsticks, and dry skin – yup, not the most glam of the autumn arrivals. I don’t know what it is but as soon as the last day of September arrives my nose gets runny, throat gets sore and dry patches appear on my legs. Season changes play havoc on the skin and as we cover ourselves up more against the colder weather we tend to not be quite as strict with our skincare routine. Gone are the weekly body scrubs, hair removal, and daily moisturiser applications, instead we throw on some tights or a jumper and forget about it until spring. I don’t know what it is but a body skincare routine in autumn just doesn’t seem as appealing as it does in spring or summer.
Since the arrival of autumn, I have changed my skincare routine up and simplified it so that I don’t just give it up altogether. So here are my main products that I’ve switched in to keep my summer skin without the summer hassle.
The colder weather is not kind to my skin and I often end up with dry patches on my legs – why always my legs, they never see the light of day. Last year I had a giant pump-top bottle of E45 to help soothe, moisture and generally settle my skin, however, there’s nothing worse than big tubs of body butter at this time of year, even pump action ones. I am prone to knocking things over and having to clean up pots of creams from my bathroom tiles. So, this year I have switched to the new E45 Derma Protect Spray (£5.99)* to keep my skin soft, supple and looking its best.
E45 has always been kind to my skin, but even more so now as I am getting older and need a whole lot more moisture in my routine. You’d be forgiven for thinking that E45 is just for skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, but it’s not, it’s actually a great everyday product for all skin types. E45 is an amazing moisturiser and it always leaves my skin feeling supple, moisturised and fresh. There’s no harsh or overpowering scent, so I feel fresh when I have applied this, and not like the product is fighting against my perfume to become the main scent. It’s kind to sensitive skin, dermatologically tested, non-greasy & incredibly easy to apply as it has a continuous spray – so no dipping hands in and out of pots or knocking product everywhere (it’s not just me that’s extremely clumsy is it?)
Basically, this is my all year round savior, but especially so when the temperatures drop and skin needs a lot more attention but without any extra fuss. Whatever you think about E45 just being for skin conditions, forget it, it’s a great everyday moisturising product that should be in everyone’s routine.
Embryolisse is a brand I have heard of but haven’t seen much of on UK blogs, so I was very excited to put this to the test and see if there was a reason why it’s not spoken about. It turns out people are seriously missing out on this brand as the products are so good. I have fallen firmly in love with the Embryolisse Anti Age Raffermissante cream; it’s packed with hyaluronic acid which helps skins moisture absorption, so it’s perfect for fighting the flakes during the colder months. Not only that but it has the added benefits of anti-aging properties, which let’s be honest at nearly 32 I am in need of. At first contact I find the cream halfway between a day cream and a night cream – it’s slightly thicker than day creams I am used to, but not as thick as a night cream. The slightly thicker texture means it takes a couple of minutes longer than my usual face cream to sink in, but it’s worth the wait as my skin feels amazing after; moisturised, supple and plump.
It leaves my skin feeling nourished and hydrated without a greasy texture or film, so it’s perfect for wearing under my makeup. I wouldn’t say it’s a rich face cream, but it certainly packs more of a punch than my normal ones, which makes it my go-to for Autumn to keep my skin in check and flake free.
I am making a big promise to myself this autumn; I won’t forget my footcare routine and end up with hooves come January. Nope, I am going to keep up a really simple routine that’ll keep my feet in tip top condition so I don’t have the massive battle for pretty feet come March. Also, I go away in December on holiday so I would like to keep my summer feet for then, so I can rock some pretty sandals. But, as my feet won’t be on show much until then I know I’ll soon forget a full footcare routine, so using the Dr.Ceuticals Foot rescue SOS Cream is a great way to keep my feet soft whilst not putting in much effort. The lightweight gel formula contains urea, aloe vera and shea butter which deliver an instant boost to your feet, meaning you don’t have to spend 2 hours a week doing a DIY pedicure and instead can spend 5 minutes massaging this in to your feet, so more time for cocktails on the beach.
