Skincare is something we all struggle with when it comes to beauty; with a multitude of skin complaints and products to navigate it can get a little tricky knowing what to use and which brand to veer towards, especially when you factor in cost too. Not everyone wants to throw £50 at an eye cream or serum, so it’s always great to see high street brands produce great offerings when it comes to looking after your skin. Una Brennan is a brand I have used on and off for a few years now as it’s easy to come by and very affordable – their Cleansing Oil is one of my favourites and I still can’t believe it’s only a tenner.
The Neroli Firming range is aimed at people who are worried about their skin showing the signs of ageing, mostly skin losing its firmness and looking less plump, but also appearing dull, lacklustre and tired. I have a few products from the range and have been using these since October time, so I have more or less used them all up now. The Daily Brightening Cleanser* wouldn’t be my first to reach for on my skincare shelf, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad – it’s just not wow. The formula is a gel so I only use this on a morning as it’s not powerful enough to cut through all my makeup on an evening. It’s a refreshing feeling cleanser and does cleanse the skin, but I just find it a little ‘meh’ – I think I would prefer it if it was a cream cleanser as they are my go to.
The Neroli Firming Super Lift SPF 15 Day Cream* has been my go to over winter as it contains winter skincare saviour ingredients such as shea butter, Hyaluronic Acid and plumping peptides. There’s also SPF 15 in there as you still need lots of protection against the sun in winter.
It’s a slightly thick cream which is generally the case when it comes to anti-aging products as they’re supposed to give a moisture boost as your skin dries out as it ages. However, I don’t find it too heavy or thick that it feels uncomfortable, in fact it goes on really well and sinks in so my makeup applies beautifully over it.
Since using this I have noticed that the pesky dry spot between my brows has started to disappear slightly – it will never fully go no matter how hard I try. My skin is also feeling a lot more supple and looks it too.
The Neroli Firming Super Lift Night Cream* is similar to the Day Cream but just a thicker, whipped and intense version. It has the same smooth consistency that sinks in well to skin, however it feels a whole lot more nourishing and treat like.
I find that when I use this my skin looks plumper by morning as it’s drunk up all the goodies in the creams. It reminds me a little of the Origins Drink Up Mask in that it’s super hydrating and thick, whilst still feeling light and non-greasy. I do find that I have to apply this a good hour before I go to bed so not to stain/mark my pillowcases.
I actually love this so much that during the winter weekends I have been applying it as a day cream if I am not leaving the house, that way I can get in some extra nourishment and moisture to my tired and dull winter skin.
The Intense Face Serum* contains an apple-derived stem cell ingredient, which is proven to actively protect the longevity of skin stem cells with a collagen stimulating peptide. This serum has really helped my makeup to look better and last a little longer through the day, which is strange for a serum as it’s not directly in contact with makeup. However, this contains silicone so it leaves a smoother look to the skin which really helps with my makeup. Due to the fact it contains silicone you need to leave it to settle a little longer than you would for a serum without it, but it’s only a minute or two more.
After mostly finishing these products I can honestly say I have noticed a difference, mostly in the area just around my mouth – it’s looking slightly plumper. I wasn’t expecting amazing results as after all this is a ‘budget’ range, so I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed the area around my mouth looking a little brighter, plumper and less tired.
