It’s nearly spring, right? With the change of seasons marks a number of different things, most notably the change in weather – sun is just around the corner guys, I promise. Another thing the change in seasons brings about is a change in the clothing you are wearing. As we start to approach the beginning of spring, now is the time to take a look at your existing wardrobe to look for ways you can update it with new and fashionable pieces, plus pack away all the black and add some colour in (although I will always wear black because goth for life). In order to help you out, I’ve put together five tips that will allow you to update your spring wardrobe so you can look on trend.
Look Into Sustainable Clothing Options
One of the hottest trends and movements at the moment is sustainable luxury fashion. This isn’t reserved for just spring wear; it’s something you can embrace all year round. Sustainable clothing refers to fashion that has been designed, manufactured, marketed, and sold in a more socio-economical and environmentally conscious manner. It’s all about leaving as little footprint on the earth as possible – because we only have one earth after all. Companies such as Beulah London offer a wide array of sustainable designer clothing for women, that can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe and paired with what you already have, as they’ve made a conscious effort to not sacrifice style for sustainability. This company particularly has been developed on the main basis of sustainability, donating 10% of its profits regularly to train victims of sex trafficking – we can all do our bit and still look hella on trend.
Pick Up the Hottest Coat of the Season – the Trench Coat
Living in the UK means you see your fair share of wet weather (and wind, and hail, and sometimes snow), this means the season’s hottest coat is a must. The trench coat is one that tends to show up on fashion show runways year after year, and this season is no different. Look for a coat in a neutral colour that is tailored and structured. Any length is considered trendy, so pick one that works for your needs and your wardrobe. The great thing about a trench coat is that it can go from winter to spring really easily – so you’re saving your pennies and also not adding to the enourmous waste of clothing.
Add a Splash of Colour to Your Wardrobe
Spring is the time to embrace colour, patterns, and prints making this another way you can update your
wardrobe. Rather than go for a full patterned outfit or skirt, pick up a piece that is more versatile. For example, a patterned and brightly coloured skirt that you can pair with various coloured solid tops, a brightly coloured scarf, or a soft blouse with pastel shades running through it. But also, don’t feel like you have to throw out all your black goth vlothing, because mixing it up is always a must.
Switch Handbags to Signify Spring’s Arrival
Switching handbags at the change of the season is the perfect way to stay fashionable, on trend, and change up your look. Spring typically brings about the lighter shades of purses, like dove grey, taupe, ivory, shell pink, and sky blue. You can go ahead and put the black bag away until the cold weather returns.
Look for Ways to Add Lace
Another tip is to look for ways to add lace to your wardrobe. Lace is once again proving to be fashionable and is showing up in fashion and accessories. I’ve been loving lace bralettes under shirts recently as it’s a great way to add in lace and some sass without looking too try hard. If you need more support in that area than a bralette offers then pick up some tit tape (I’m a fan of this one personally), it’s a life saver and gives the extra lift that a bralette fails to give if you’re above a D cup!
You’re Ready for Spring to Arrive
Now that you’ve gone ahead and updated your wardrobe with fashionable pieces, all that is left to do is
wait for spring to arrive.
