If we’re constantly keen to make our loved ones happy come Christmas, then we’re also constantly in search for the perfect gifts for them. Nothing but the best will do. While generic presents like socks and grooming gear can work a treat, what most of us would really like is a chance to make someone’s Christmas complete. This largely comes down to the present they receive! Of course, ‘perfect’ is relative to your individual needs. If expense factors into your gift giving, perhaps the four-gift rule is up your street. If your friends or family are somewhat extravagant, perhaps you need to pick up something flashy? Consequently, here’s a few ideas that could qualify as some of the most perfect Christmas gifts this year.
Fragrances
While not entirely original, any present recipient can get a lot of mileage out of a quality fragrance. Scents that are of higher quality will smell nicer and last longer, meaning whatever bottle you buy won’t be emptied within a few days or weeks. Companies like Miller Harris sell such quality products, so if you know someone who’d like to update their scent, give them a gander!
These kinds of presents are typically most appropriate for a significant other or perhaps a son or daughter instead. After all, if you give a fragrance to a friend, they might just take offence and think that you’re telling them that they stink! At least if that implication is with someone close to you, they won’t try to avoid you in future for supposedly being mean… so select the recipient well here!
A Good Book
Sticking again with the theme of mileage, a quality book can go a long way as a gift. Even if your friends and family aren’t big readers per se, there is a book out there for them! Are they obsessed with John Barrowman? Pick up his autobiography so that they can obsess over him for over 500 fabulous pages. Do they like documentaries? Pick up a David Attenborough text! You get the idea. Some of my faveourite gifts are books or gift vouchers for book stores, as I love the escape they offer me and some peace & quiet too.
Not every book is a dense fiction novel – there’s a lot of variety out there. Internet vloggers, mainstream actors and a plethora of public figures all have a text out there be it fiction or non-fiction, and it might just get your friend into reading which we all know is a good thing! A good book shows that you know the receiver and their interests and that you want them to explore the things that bring them joy further.

Make Something Yourself
If you’re talented with arts and crafts, giving the gift of your own work will be enough to touch the person you care about. If you’re a painter, a drawer, a knitter; anything that requires you to muck in and really put a great amount of effort into the present will be greatly appreciated and may even save you some money. At least they can say they only have one of what you’ve given, making your gift truly original! Additionally, even if you’re a writer or a baker, you could do something here too. Write a short story or a poem and give it to them, or perhaps bake some cookies, store them in a Tupperware and wrap said Tupperware up! Anything that shows that you really spent time trying to please them will definitely warm hearts, and if you gave some art, that gift may just become a prized, lifelong memento.
What will you be gifting this Christmas?
