I have a confession to make… I had no idea that ski festivals were a thing! I am ashamed to say this as I work in the travel sector and I love a good festival. Not only are they a thing, but they are a big thing – who knew?!
After using Admiral’s Ski Festival Finder to check out some festivals and find the one that’s perfect for me, I thought I would share some of the festivals I found that seem pretty interesting. I love the idea of mixing snow, skiing and great music, although I assume the usual festival tradition of a few cheeky drinks might have to take a back seat due to the skiing!
1. Tomorrowland Winter
9th – 16th March 2019 / OK so I was well aware of Tomorrowland festival however I didn’t know they had a winter version too. It will be held in Alpe d’Huez in France in March and will feature the likes of Armin van Buuren, Like Mike and Afrojack.
23rd – 30th March 2019 / In terms of music acts this seems a bit more my style than Tomorrowland, mainly because I am old and a few of these acts I remember from my youth – many many moons ago! Not only are there some cracking acts like DJ Luck & MC Neat (hell yeah), Craig David’s TS5 & Rudimental, there are parties in igloos… Yes, I said IGLOO PARTIES!
3. Fresh Mountain Festival
9th – 16th March / Another festival where the legends that are DJ Luck & MC Neat are showing up is Fresh Mountain, they’ll also be joined by Tim Westwood! Could this be a more early 2000s line-up? I love it. It will take place in Les Orres in France and has a more urban vibe and line up than the other ski festivals which are generally more dance music focused.
4. Musilac Mont Blanc
26th – 28th April / This one falls quite late in the year for ski (or so I think) and is to be held in Chamonix in France. There’s definitely a more mixed music vibe to this one but it definitely has a certain indie vibe too it. The line up includes Editors, Two Door Cinema Club and The Kooks – be sure to pack your skinny jeans.
So, which of the ski festivals would you be heading off to if you could? I think my picks would be Fresh Mountain as it’s more urban or Musilac Mont Blanc for the indie vibes.
