In my opinion, the best outfits are the ones that make you feel most comfortable, in body and mind. However, it’s sometimes hard to strike a balance between slouchy and stylish. Pyjamas are incredibly cosy but they’re not exactly appropriate to wear around the office (except at the moment when most are working from home). They can make you feel rather grungy; and while heels look amazing, they can leave you either in excruciating pain or feeling self-conscious. So, what’s the middle ground between these two extremes? We’re here to talk you through this predicament.
Tight or Loose?
If you’re cosying up on a winter’s evening, then slouchy hoodies are perfect. Unfortunately for everyone, they’re not the most fashionable or flattering. But you don’t need to wear a skin-tight dress to look like you’ve made an effort, either. Instead, try on clothing which is fitted but also roomy, such as blouses tucked or loose dresses with a belt. These styles are made with soft and flowy materials, so they’re comfortable and allow complete freedom of movement, whilst still injecting an element of classiness to the outfit. Lightly fitted clothes are also perfect for all body types; from those who are plus-sized to those with a more slender frame – so everyone can look good and feel good.
Appropriate Footwear
Footwear is essential for creating an outfit which is both fashionable and comfortable. Unless you’re using them for practical purposes, then trainers aren’t a good selection for everyday wear around the office. They’re usually quite casual and don’t compliment things like dress skirts or suits. On the other hand, though high heels are considered the epitome of fashion, they’re also notoriously painful and so they’re no good for an everyday outfit either. Once again, we’re looking for a middle ground here. In the footwear department, ankle boots are a great option when considering comfort and style. They’re available in an incredible variety of styles – from gothic pleather to bohemian suede – and come in a whole host of heights, too. What’s even better is that ankle boots go with anything. This includes casual jeans, floral dresses and even pantsuits. If you want to see for yourself, have a look at ankle boots by Dune and discover how versatile they are. Footwear is the make or break factor for how comfortable an outfit is, so remember to choose your heels wisely!
Outerwear
Warmth is an important factor in choosing an outfit for every occasion, from nightclubbing to going trekking through the snow. You should carefully select jackets and coats which are versatile, stylish and comfortable. Longline coats are perfect for winter because they pretty much wrap you from head to toe and are lined with wool or other insulating materials. They’re also able to transform any outfit from shoddy to chic (even your favourite tracksuit bottoms!), so they’re great for every occasion. Best of all, they’re a timeless staple of fashion. Trends may come and go, but longline coats will always be in. The same can be said for denim jackets. These are recommend for the summertime because they’re lightweight and an easy-breezy type of chic which goes with almost anything. However, ensure you
choose the right one for you, as some denim jackets are fitted, while others are baggy.
It’s important to pick clothing which is suitably fitted so you can feel comfortable and look fashionable. Ankle boots are perfect for every outfit because of their versatility, whilst the right outerwear can transform any look from slouchy to stylish.
