It’s National Smile Month, and as someone who hates their teeth it’s not something I shout about is my smile. I have badly discoloured teeth, not to mention crooked, but the discolouration is my main issue. As a smoker (slaps own wrists) and a coffee drinker I am already on to a bad start, couple that with the fact my family have weak teeth and I have a calcium deficiency I am more or less doomed. And yes, I should start making regular visits down to the Dentist in Greene to get my teeth cleaned
Over the years I have tried all the whitening things I can get my hands on, ever professional whitening. The only toothpaste I actually found to work previously was one specially for smokers, however I have changed my thoughts of that being the best after trying the Janina Maxiwhite Toothpaste. These products are expensive, around £12.50 for a tube of toothpaste, but believe me they are worth it and you can also save if you buy in bulk, so 2 tubes for £20, on the Beauty and the Bunch site.* The toothpaste contains natural enzymes from Bromaine Complex to promote low abrasive whitening results, as well as a grade of Hydroxyapatite for faster whitening results, which means nothing to me, however the results do. The first morning I used this I thought my teeth looked a shade lighter, but discounted it as me being hopeful and seeing things. But after using later that evening I was convinced it had lightened then a shade or two. It tastes very strong, kind of like the Listerine effect but a fresh taste so it’s kinda nice. Basically apart from the amazing whitening it’s just like a normal toothpaste.
If you only have slight staining then this will work wonders for you, unlike me where it will take prolonged use over a long time for the results I want. To help boost the effects of the toothpaste I have also being using the Janina Teeth Whitening Strips, which are peroxide free so perfect for my teeth as peroxide makes them so sore and sensitive. I was scared to use these having never used strips but hearing many a horror story, I need not have worried though. You get 14 strips in a box and can use either 2 a day or 1 a day, I have being doing a mixture of the 2 as some days I can’t spare the time on a morning. The strips coe attached to a clear film, you then peel them back and place them gel side down on your teeth and leave for 30 mins. I didn’t experience any pain or sensitivity whilst they were on, and none at all (except straight after it was a little sensitive to hot drinks).
My teeth were lightened immediately by about 2 shades and a further 2 with a few more uses of the strips. These are perfect if you have a special occasion coming up, but are not recommended for continued use, so they are only to be used every so often. As I mentioned they are peroxide free so they are safe for your tooshie pegs and won’t strip enamel from them. They are £19.95 a pack or you can get the strips and toothpaste for £25.00, so it works out at nice little bargain, and for something that doesn’t damage teeth, it’s certainly worth it.
